We currently do not offer fully virtual programming. All programs have at least some in-person component.

While participation in a pre-college program does not directly impact the decision on your admission to NC State, there are many benefits for college-bound students. Participation in one of our pre-college programs can help you narrow down your academic interests and you can add any pre-college program experience (whether here at NC State or elsewhere) to your activities and involvement that you share in your college admission essay.

Pre-college programs are created to prepare students, ranging from elementary to high school, for higher education. Eligibility varies by program. Browse our programs page to learn more about eligibility requirements for each.

There is no limit to the number of pre-college programs you can sign up for. Be sure to check the eligibility requirements for each program before you apply or register.

No, none of our pre-college programs translate to academic credit for participants.

Yes, homeschooled students are eligible to apply/register for most of our pre-college programs. We recommend reviewing other eligibility criteria for the program you are interested in by visiting the program website.

For Applicants and Registered Participants

Living and dining accommodations vary by program. We recommend visiting the website for the program you are interested in to learn more.

While your “what to bring” list will vary by program, some typical items for residential participants include personal toiletries, phone charger, form of ID, appropriate clothing, etc.

Youth Programs and Compliance

The mission of the Office of Youth Programs and Compliance is to promote the safety of youth participating in NC State programs and activities through a comprehensive compliance program including the development, facilitation, monitoring, revision and oversight of policies, protocol, training and compliance related activities to provide a safe and healthy environment for minor participants.
