The North Carolina Youth Institute is a youth program of the Global Youth Institute and World Food Prize Foundation and provides a platform for students to research and develop innovative recommendations to solve key global challenges in our food systems. Students explore far-reaching and complex topics that range from food insecurity, access to potable water, poverty, human rights and more. To participate, students research a global issue and write a three to four page paper under the supervision of a teacher or mentor and present at a one-day conference at NC State. Top students at the North Carolina Youth Institute will be competitively selected to represent the state of North Carolina as delegates at the Global Youth Institute, held in Des Moines, Iowa in October of each year.
